WEEKLY ACTING CLASSES at AVILA UNIVERSITY

TYA’s Theatre Arts Training Program offers a strong base of skills and confidence for all ages of theatre students. Our curriculum follows a progression, building upon age-appropriate learning sequence with more complex activities and concepts as they advance. All classes utilize a broad spectrum of activities and exercises to learn about and refine how they use their voices, bodies, and creative mind in the craft of acting.

Emerging Actors: 3-5 Year Olds

In the Forest with Snow White – June 21, 12:00pm
Puss in Boots Adventure – July 19, 12:00pm

Pre-Performance Immersion Events begin in the lobby of City Stage. Activities include acting exercises, a craft, and admission to the 2 pm performance of the TYA MainStage production. Each enrolled participant receives a sack lunch before attending the play. Tuition: $60 for one child and one guardian; $30 for each additional child; $100 for a family of up to 5 individuals

Theater Training: 6-8 and 9-11 Year Olds

The Bremen Town Musicians – June 23-27, 2-4:30pm
The Golden Goose – July 21-25, 2-4:30pm

This performance and theatre arts camp includes acting training and introduction to technical design for the stage. All will work on set, props, costumes, and character development, while rehearsing our play. Our performance for family and friends will be on Friday on the City Stage in Union Station. Tuition: $150

Theater Intensive: 12 and up

Puss in Boots, A Tale of a Tail – July 7- 26

Theatre Arts Projects are TYA’s signature actor training program. Experiential learning enhances understanding, retention, and engagement. Knowledge they learn while solving problems and creating with other young actors and adult professionals is invaluable. We begin with auditions, then rehearsals, production meetings, and tech time to prepare for our public performances at City Stage in Union Station.

Camp Dates and Times: July 7-11 and July 14-18: 9 am-5 pm;
July 19: 1-4 pm; July 22-24: 9 am-12 pm; July 25: 9 am-5 pm; July 26: 1-5 pm. TUITION: $400

Forgotten in the Fairy Tale – August 2-9 at Avila University

For the even more serious theatre students, we have our Theatre Arts Project at Avila University’s Black Box. This academic setting really sparks the interest of this students to where their theatre training can take them. We use more challenging material that deals with more complex characters and situations. We also find creating the world of the play in this black box exciting and a rare opportunity! We culminate with two public performances. Times: August 4-7: 9 am-5 pm; August 8: 9:00 am-8:30 pm;

August 9: 5:00-9:00 pm. TUITION: $300
