WEEKLY ACTING CLASSES at UNION STATION KANSAS CITY
TYA’s Theatre Arts Training Program offers a strong base of skills and confidence for all ages of theatre students. Our curriculum follows a progression, building upon age-appropriate learning sequence with more complex activities and concepts as they advance. All classes utilize a broad spectrum of activities and exercises to learn about and refine how they use their voices, bodies, and creative mind in the craft of acting.
Classes Cost:

By Semester $135
Classes will be held on Wednesday evenings at Union Station
Pretend Players: 5-7 year olds
First semester-October 1, 2025-December 10, 2025 (no class 11/26/25)
Second semester- February 25, 2026- May 6, 2026 (no class 3/18/26)
This class focuses on story-telling using their voice, body, and creative mind skills. Learning how to create with others and following a director’s plan are a fun part of this class that builds confidence and comfort on stage. We also incorporate puppetry, costumes, masks, and intro to other technical aspects of theatre.
Adventures in Acting: 8-12 year olds
First semester-October 1, 2025-December 10, 2025 (no class 11/26/25)
Second semester- February 25, 2026- May 6, 2026 (no class 3/18/26)
We build upon the above skills adding techniques such as character development, script analysis, improv, and auditioning. We explore more technical elements such as scenery and props. This class works with short plays and scenes.
Acting Conservatory: 13 year olds and up
First semester-October 1, 2025-December 10, 2025 (no class 11/26/25)
Second semester- February 25, 2026- May 6, 2026 (no class 3/18/26)
Class study is all of the above advancing into theory and critical thinking. Stage terminology, self-discipline and care, expression of emotions, playwriting, advanced technical theatre, and directing are all a part of this level. This class dives into scene work, advanced improv skills, and play development.
SATURDAY WORKSHOPS FOR PRESCHOOL STUDENTS
This fun “family and me” class for our youngest students focuses on story telling elements and creative play. Each class is designed to enhance the experience of going to the current MainStage production. We do skill work with our voices and body and create a craft to take home. The class includes sack lunches and reserved seats for the show!

Preschool workshops:
$50 for one child and one guardian
$25 for each additional child

OUTREACH CLASSES
TYA comes to you! These workshops or short residencies add to your educational curriculum in schools and youth groups. We have classes for all levels of development. Call or e-mail for more information and to book.
Programs include:
Day at the Circus, Instant Costumes, Getting Dramatic, Local Civil War Roleplaying, Impov, Conflict Resolution, Exploring Solutions to Bullying, Character Development and Script Analysis, Intro to Theories of Acting, Voice and Movement for Stage
Outreach classes:
$125 for up to 30 students
$100 for each additional class
