2024-2025 Classes and Workshops

WEEKLY ACTING CLASSES at AVILA UNIVERSITY

TYA’s Theatre Arts Training Program offers a strong base of skills and confidence for all ages of theatre students. Our curriculum follows a progression, building upon age-appropriate learning sequence with more complex activities and concepts as they advance. All classes utilize a broad spectrum of activities and exercises to learn about and refine how they use their voices, bodies, and creative mind in the craft of acting.

Pretend Players: 5-7 Year Olds

This class focuses on storytelling using their voice, body, and creative mind skills. Learning how to create with others and following a director’s plan are a fun part of this class that builds confidence and comfort on stage. We also incorporate puppetry, costumes, masks, and intro to other technical aspects of theatre.
Wednesdays, 5-6 pm

Adventures in Acting: 8-12 Year Olds

We build upon the above skills adding techniques such as character development, script analysis, improv, and auditioning. We explore more technical elements such as scenery and props. This class works with short plays and scenes.
Wednesdays, 6-7 pm

Acting Conservatory: 13 and up

Class study is all of the above advancing into theory and critical thinking. Stage terminology, self-discipline and care, expression of emotions, play-writing, advanced technical theatre, and directing are all a part of this level. This class dives into scene work, advanced improv skills, and play development.
Wednesdays, 7-8:30 pm
